Baby Blue Has the Blues ISBN: 9780764337321

Published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 2011
Baby Blue is so big (he's a Blue Whale) that the fish will have nothing to do with him. He desperately wants to play, but they say he is too big, and, anyway, he isn't a fish, so he is cruelly excluded. His mum explains he is a mammal, and he is quite proud of the fact, but he must still wistfully watch the little fish while they cavort happily. Then a shark comes along, and the fish realise there are pluses to being large and threatening. Amongst the themes of bullying and being different there runs another theme, that of the threat to the Blue Whale. The illustrations are brilliant. Mostly in shades of blue and green, with splashes of colour here and there, they nicely depict the story. There are some activities printed at the back of the book, useful for either school or home. It is available either from Amazon or from www.bushwoodbooks.co.uk
