Rex's Specs (Dinosaur Friends) ISBN: 9780750270571
Hughes, Jack
Published by Wayland, 2012
Rex, the little green dinosaur, wears big red spectacles. With them he can see very clearly a long way, and he and his friends, Steggie, Dachy and Emmy, like to climb to the top of a high hill where Rex can tell them stories about all the exciting places he can see. But Rex isn't happy about wearing his specs. He thinks his friends don't like them, and one day he decides to go off without them. This is not a good idea! Because he can see nothing clearly, he almost gets bitten by a snake, chased by a bear, and becomes lunch for a crocodile. When his friends find him, they bring the specs along too, and when he explains why he went off without them, they all cry, 'But Rex, we all love your specs!' They envy his beautiful big red glasses and would like to have some too. The wonderfully bright and cheerful illustrations are great fun, and the difference between Rex's sight when he is wearing his glasses and when he isn't show clearly how important specs can be.
