Katie really enjoys going to the dentist. She likes Mrs Malek, the hygienist, too. We meet both Mrs Malek and the dentist, and Katie has her teeth cleaned, although this only seems to be by a toothbrush and tooth paste. She likes the 'big blue chair' that goes up and down though, and she learns lots about animals and their teeth. The dentist tells Katie that next time she comes he will take x-rays, and she thinks that is 'cool'. Katie wears glasses, and there are people of various cultures in the story, including Mrs Malek and Katie herself, who is Chinese. The chirpy, cheerful pictures, large print and fun approach to a visit that can be dreaded will provide interest and comfort.
