Rosie's walk ISBN: 9780370324463
Hutchins, Pat
Published by The Bodley Head, 1998
The ultimate in triumph-over-adversity stories. Rosie's unconcerned walk through the countryside, followed by a wily fox, is a model of laid-back cool. The little hen never seems to know the fox is there. On the other hand, she leads him through some very peculiar places, and one begins to suspect that the poor fox's misadventures are not altogether unplanned. The bright, stylised illustrations in greens and yellows tell quite a different story from the simple text and are essential to this classic. Rosie's unconcern at the danger around her can be reassuring to a child who feels in danger himself.
